Turkey's relations with the European Union are spread over a long period of time. The first step was taken in 1963 with the Ankara Agreement signed with the European Economic Community (EEC). This was an Association Agreement, and envisaged the gradual participation of our country in its current name and the Common Market to be established in the European Union through a customs union to be established. These three stages were identified as follows:

  • Preparation phase (1964-1972)
  • Transition phase (1973-1995)
  • Final phase (from 1996 to full economic integration)

The preparation phase was completed in 1973. At that time, an Additional Protocol was made aimed at removing customs duties. According to this protocol,

  • European Union, customs duties on industrial products produced in our country has lifted from the beginning of the transition period.
  • Our country has started to make customs duties on industrial products produced in European Union countries gradually.

Turkey's Customs Union was determined to put 22 years to complete the application work. By the year of 1995 the transition phase was completed and Customs union In the 1996 agreement, customs duties applied to industrial products of the European Union have been abolished.

With the application of Customs Union, our country with all industrial products except agricultural products Avrupa Birliği has joined the market. The Customs Union covers generally processed agricultural products and industrial products. The Common External Tariff implemented by the European Union for some industrial products from third countries was harmonized in 2001.

Our country's participation in the Customs Union in this way has ensured the harmonization of national standards with the European Union standards and our country has become a party to various agreements.

In 1985 New Approach When the program started to be implemented by the European Union, the necessary legal arrangements were started to be made rapidly. In this context, the directives CE certification system has been implemented in our country.

So now is the time for European companies take products from Turkey company, they want to CE certification. It is not possible for the products which do not have CE label to enter the European Union market and to be put into the market. Moreover, in the case of subsequent inspections and tests, the products do not comply with the technical requirements of the directives, even though they carry the CE marking; it is possible to collect these products from the market and apply heavy sanctions to the manufacturer. Therefore, the products to be sent to the European Union CE label It is very important that they carry and do not make any irregularities when placing this label on the products.

The TÜRCERT certification body, which operates in our country, conducts certification studies with the authorities it receives from national and international accreditation bodies. However, besides these studies, it also provides various test and inspection services to its customers. If there are still hesitations about the CE marking and if you want to get more detailed information about why European companies want CE certification from our companies, TÜRCERT is ready to serve in all subjects with its expert and experienced managers and employees.
