Especially in the beginning of 1980, the development and progression of the automotive industry around the world has pushed automotive manufacturers to new approaches. ISO TS 16949 Automotive Quality Management System standards, the emergence of this requirement is a bit. This standard has been prepared by the ISO, the Technical Committee within the International Organization for Standards. This standard is a Quality Management System for supplier companies operating in the automotive industry. ISO TS 16949: The 2009 standard is the standard that is defined by the harmonization of the technical standards for automotive suppliers.

The standard in question is the combination of the QS 9000 standard in North America and the French EAQF, the Italian AVSQ and the German VDA 6 standards, which have been adopted as a new standard.

The QS 9000 standard is an improved version of the ISO 9000 Quality Management System for the automotive industry. Chrysler, Ford Motor and General Motor companies developed in the US by taking into consideration the requirements in the automotive sector. This standard includes a number of mandatory and advisory requirements. The QS 9000 standard is very close to the Total Quality Management approach and implements a very strict application on possible error types and effects analysis, experimental design, quality improvement of functions and similar quality techniques and business planning, shipping, price and management. This standard can be applied to companies producing various service parts in the automotive industry, which are manufacturing as suppliers, suppliers and subcontractors, providing raw materials and auxiliary materials.

The French EAQF standard, published in France in 1994. Developed for the French automotive industry, this standard is based on the ISO 9000 Quality Management System and has been developed for the needs of Citroen, Fiat, Peugeot and Renault.

The Italian AVSQ standard was similarly published in Italy in 1994. Developed for the Italian automotive industry, this standard is based on the ISO 9000 Quality Management System and was developed for the needs of Romeo, Lancia, Maserati, Fiat and Ferrari.

Finally, the German VDA 6 standard is a Quality Management System developed for suppliers operating in the German automotive industry.

There are four standards on the basis of the ISO TS 16949 Automotive Quality Management System standard, all of which are based on the ISO 9000 Quality Management System.

According to ISO TS 16949 standard only automotive supply industry suppliers are certified. It does not bring new and rigid rules to the existing Quality Management System standards and only provides a different perspective in terms of the automotive supply industry. This new standard has been established by incorporating specific quality standards, specific requirements in the automotive sector.

The American QS 9000 standard was increasingly recognized and widespread, but this new standard, adopted by the International Organization for Standardization, was rapidly adopted. The QS 9000 standard is no longer in effect.

ISO TS 16949 standardIt covers the requirements of the Quality Management System standard for the design, development, production, assembly work and service conditions of automotive products. It also covers the specific requirements of the customers of automotive manufacturers.

The ISO TS 16949 standard has been jointly prepared by the International Automotive Task Force and the Technical Committee of the International Standards Organization, and automotive manufacturers and commercial organizations have also participated in the work.

The International Automotive Task Force is an international vehicle manufacturers group. The companies that produce vehicles such as Daimler Chrysler, BMW Group, Fiat, Ford Motor, General Motors, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault and Volkswagen are members of this group. Then Japanese vehicle manufacturers also joined this group.

This group, ISO TS 16949 standards has identified the requirements for certification and conformity assessment of subsidiary companies. Companies operating in the automotive supply chain started the transition to the ISO TS 2002 Automotive Quality Management System standard, which was published in March from 16949. These standards were revised in 2009.

Firms that establish this standard in their businesses gain many benefits. First of all, the knowledge accumulated in the automotive sector is gathered together. Production quality is increasing. The supplier chain is developing and the automotive industry supplier industry meets the same quality system. Production efficiency is increasing, the quality of the sector is increasing and more reliable products are offered to the end user. Finally, different audit systems of the main industrial firms have reached a standard.

ISO / TS 16949; identifies the quality system requirements for the design, design, development, production, installation and service of automotive related products.

ISO / TS 16949: 2009, a quality management system for automotive industry suppliers, is a standard that has been defined in accordance with technical standards for automotive suppliers, in which conditions for the automotive industry are defined.

During the implementation of ISO 16949 Automotive Quality Management System, the expectations of the firm must be understood in the first stage. Because different manufacturers have different requirements. On the basis of this standard, American, German, French and Italian have streamlined their automotive quality system requirements and are not necessarily a requirement to be accepted by car manufacturers in every country of the world. Therefore, an organizational strategy should be prepared by the company's senior management and should be adopted in this way. The Quality Management System also requires that the system be adopted by the top management prior to the application.

It is always a recommended method to get support from an independent organization on how to install and implement the system. This will save time and effort.
