The ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard issued by the International Standards Organization applies to all tourism enterprises. The important thing is to provide quality, accurate and fast service. However, the tourism sector has different characteristics and applications than other service sectors and has the privileges specific to this sector apart from the quality standards. As a result, studies have been conducted to develop a standard for tourism enterprises only through various meetings and organizations held by the World Tourism Organization, the World Trade Organization and outside of them. The last of these studies was completed and published by the International Standards Organization in 2003. ISO 18513 Tourism Management System is based on Quality Management System. However, at certain points, it differs from this system in line with the fields and needs of the tourism sector.

ISO 18513. Tourism Services Management System documentation is the most important step in the installation. All business processes, application instructions, job descriptions, work flow charts, forms and tables should be written to the desired standard. The documents cannot be obtained until these studies are completed and the application has started. ISO 18513 Certificatecan be requested from an accredited certification body after the completion of these studies. If it is understood that the company has established and implemented this system after the audit works, ISO 18513 Certificate is issued and delivered to the company. Otherwise, deficiencies must be corrected and re-inspected.

The validity period of ISO 18513 Certificate is three years. Nevertheless, interim audits should be conducted every year to review the activities of the enterprise. If there are disruptive directions during these inspections, it is requested to be corrected. It is also possible to cancel the document if heavy application deficiencies are detected.
