The Machinery Directive was published in 1993 and implemented a two-year transition period. After 1995, it was fully implemented. Since 1995, on every new machine covered by the directive, CE marking must bear a label.
For a wide range of machines, it is possible for the manufacturer to evaluate whether the machine meets the requirements of the directive without the need for an approved certification body. The machine has a type plate on which the CE mark, the name and address of the manufacturer, the serial and type number of the product and the date of manufacture shall be indicated.

The Machinery Safety Regulation (2006 / 42 / AT) has been issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. When any machine is properly installed, maintained and used for its intended purpose, it must not harm human health and safety and property. This regulation has been prepared in order to regulate the basic safety conditions to be followed during the design and production phase of the machines to be put on the market and the conformity assessment procedures to be followed, as well as the minimum criteria to be taken into consideration in the notified bodies that will conduct conformity assessment. This regulation also complies with Directive 2006 / 42 / EC issued by the European Union.
Whether used machines are covered by the Machinery Directive is controversial. This directive covers only new machines. For this reason, machines that were put on sale before 1995 are out of the scope of this directive.
