The Machinery Safety Regulation was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2009. There are two pillars for the adoption of this regulation:

  • Law on the Preparation and Implementation of Technical Legislation on Products 4703
  • Machinery Directive 2006 / 42 / EC (previously (98 / 37 / EC)) issued by the European Union

Mainly installed and regularly maintained machines should not cause human health and safety or property damage. This regulation has been issued with the aim of regulating the basic safety conditions required for the design and production stages of these machines before they are put on the market. The Regulation also regulates the conformity assessment processes to be followed and the minimum criteria to be considered in the selection of notified bodies to conduct conformity assessment.

Avrupa Birliği Published by New Approach Directives product groups and risk assessment. In this sense, some machines fall into the low risk group. As such, companies producing these machines will prepare a technical dossier and carry out the conformity assessment themselves and put the CE label on the machine themselves. However, some machines are in the high risk group. In this case, the manufacturing companies will prepare the technical file again, but will apply to an approval institution in our country or abroad for conformity assessment. They will put the report to be prepared after evaluation by the technical file and put the CE label on the machine according to the result of the report.

Conformity assessment The standards to be considered during the following are:

  • TS EN 60204-1 Safety in machines - Electrical equipment of machines - Part 1: General rules
  • TS EN ISO 12100 Safety in machines - General principles for design - Risk assessment and risk reduction

These manufacturers must be well acquainted with the CE marking application criteria, as the manufacturers themselves will carry out the conformity assessment for products at low risk and which are included in the European Union Directives and will place the CE mark on the product themselves.

The CE label to be put on the products should be based on the following criteria:

  • CE labelis a proof of conformity assessment by the manufacturer for the unobstructed presentation of the product to the market.
  • The CE label must be affixed to the product.
  • The CE label must indicate which standard and directive the product is manufactured for.
  • The CE label must bear the last two digits of the year in which the product is placed.
  • The CE label is proof that the product is manufactured in accordance with the relevant directive of the European Union.
  • The CE label also proves that the product is manufactured in accordance with national legal requirements.
  • CE marking is an official mark and is valid in all European Union countries.

The TÜRCERT certification body primarily focuses on certification studies. However, in addition to these studies, it also offers technical services such as various test and inspection studies. Therefore, if there is a need to get more information about what the CE label means and how to obtain the CE Certificate for the machines, do not hesitate to contact the experts and employees of the TÜRCERT certification body.
