Forklifts are machines used to lift heavy loads and in particular to load them in a vehicle or a rack. Forklifts usually move on pallets and are used to transport, lift and stack heavy loads. Hand-held small forklifts as well as large and motorized varieties. They can lift up to 90 tone. The models used in outdoor areas can be diesel or diesel engine. In enclosed areas, there are mostly electric powered models working with batteries.

Today, it is one of the most important stacking tools of our time with its agility and mobility capabilities. Regular checks of forklifts are also required as they carry heavy loads. According to the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, it is a legal obligation to carry out regular checks against a possible accident risk. In the event of an accident, the first point to be looked at is whether the truck has been checked regularly. Otherwise, the owner will be held responsible.

Since forklifts are expensive vehicles, businesses generally prefer to rent these vehicles. In this case, the liability will be in the leasing company. This company has to perform regular inspections of the truck.

Inspection and test facilitiesprior to the forklift inspection, it will want to see the previous report of the machine. In the previous examination, it is important whether any non-conformity is detected or not, if any, this non-conformity has been eliminated. In addition, the person who will use the forklift is checked for authorization. Then the technical specifications of the machine are checked. In the function tests, it is checked whether the truck is carrying any movements in accordance with the specifications of the machine in the unloaded condition. Same controller one is also repeated. It is checked whether the truck has any deformation after the loaded controls.

In the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment, issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the control periods according to the types of machines, the criteria to be taken into consideration during the periodic checks and related standards are explained. According to this, forklifts should be inspected at least once a year if no other period is specified in the relevant standards.
