ECO Label system ECOmark shows that production and consumption vehicles are respectful to the environment. It means that products are suitable for natural selection, healthy and ecological products in industry, textile and chemical products. Different production methods are used for animal and vegetable products in ecological agriculture activities. However, according to the general approach, there are common principles that apply to both. For example, in agricultural production, all factors related to production activities should be considered as a whole and the adequacy of ecological production enterprise should be ensured. For this, natural cycle must be provided from local sources and natural based raw materials should be used. In addition, the environmental impacts of raw materials and other inputs from the immediate environment should be reduced. The cultivated soil should be improved and the organisms in it should be protected. The fertility of the soil should be increased by natural means, alternate sowing should be done, organic fertilizers should be used and the soil should be treated with appropriate methods. The biological activities of the soil should be supported for healthy and balanced growth of the plant.

Another important point in ecological agriculture is the selection of plant species and animals, the ecological conditions of the production area and the possibility of catching diseases under these conditions should be taken into consideration. This issue is also important for the protection of biological diversity. In terms of pest control, some biotechnical methods, biological control and cultural measures can be applied. However, if the hazard increases to the extent that the product is threatened, then chemicals of plant or mineral origin may be used.

In energy use in ecological agriculture, natural energy sources such as solar energy and wind energy are preferred to the extent possible.

Since the first people, agriculture has been changing with the human beings for centuries. However, with the rapid development of industry and technology in the nineteenth century, the change in agriculture has accelerated. However, until recently, only yield increase was targeted and synthetic chemical drugs and mineral fertilizers were used more.

However, on the other hand, it has been observed that traditional methods affect agriculture negatively and countries have started to apply ecological agriculture on their own. By the year of 1972, IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement) was established and this issue gained a different dimension.

In our country, legal regulations have been adopted in this direction and the standards published by the International Standards Organization (ISO) have been harmonized.

On the other hand, TÜRCERT Technical Control and Certification Inc. ECOmark designed the ecological product standard with its sensitivity to nature protection. Agricultural products made according to the designed standard requirements are certified with ECOmark label.
