97 / 23 / EC issued by the European Union Pressure Equipment Directive According to the (Pressure Equipment Directive) conditions, starting from the year of 2002, the pressure products to be offered in the European Union countries must comply with the directives. Otherwise, it is not allowed to market these products.

In the same year in our country Regulation on Pressure Equipment (97 / 23 / AT). Following a two-year transition period, we have been obliged to comply with these regulations. In order for manufacturers to place CE markings on their products, an assessment must be made in accordance with the categories specified in the regulation. Each category contains certain modules. While determining the conformity assessment categories, the tables in the annex of the regulation are used. When determining the most appropriate modules for their products, manufacturers will consider whether their products will be a single equipment or a mass production and whether there is a quality system in its operation.

The Regulation has considered certain characteristics in determining these categories. Namely,

  • Type of equipment (pipe, container, pressure components, safety elements and so on)
  • Type of fluid used (with or without danger)
  • Design data (PS, TS, DN, V and so on)

The directive and the regulation shall include pressure equipment and their equipment with a pressure rating higher than the maximum permissible pressure 0.5 bar. In addition, these pressure receptacles must be used outside of the burner and the maximum pressure should not exceed the 30 bar. The regulation covers simple pressure vessels manufactured and manufactured in series which are not exposed to fire, which are supplied with air or nitrogen gas and welded.

The following equipment and equipment are:

  • Pressure vessels
  • Steam boilers
  • Enhancements
  • Water and gas fuel retention and exhaust systems components
  • Safety valves used in fixed LPG storage tanks
  • Hermetic compressors used in cooling systems
  • Fire extinguishing equipment
  • Breathing tubes
  • Pressure accessories
  • Pressure Equipment
  • Pressure cookers
  • Safety accessories

All products within the scope of the Pressure Equipment Regulation must be CE labeled has to be. The fact that manufacturers place CE mark on their products depends on meeting the basic safety requirements of the regulations. If the product meets these requirements, the conformity assessment of the product is deemed to have been made. However, the manufacturer must prepare a technical file (97 / 23 / EC) on the product.

Basic security requirements include:

  • General
  • Design
  • Production
  • Material
  • Additional requirements for steam boilers
  • Additional requirements for my pipe
  • Some definitions and requirements for pressure equipment

Corrosion, thickness, sealing, cracks, scratches, abrasion, deformation, connection, pressure and calibration properties are taken into consideration when testing and controlling pressure vessels.
